Mr. Ward is a Director in Segal Marco Advisors’ Alpha Investment Research Group, based in Chicago. He has several decades of investment research experience. Mr. Ward is primarily responsible for the recommendation and monitoring of investment strategies for the various types of plan sponsors. He conducts ongoing quantitative and qualitative analysis of individual strategies and coordinates all aspects of the investment due diligence process, including working with current and prospective managers with an emphasis on equity long-only products. As a senior member of the team, he is heavily involved in the coaching and mentoring of the junior analysts on the team and in constant collaboration with fellow senior members on the team in collaboration of projects, specific work task and other related work priorities.
Mr. Ward is currently a member of Segal Marco Advisors’ Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) and Diversity Investing Working Group (DIWG) committees, with a primary emphasis on integrating ESG and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) elements within research due diligence practices and to advance the opportunity set for clients’ portfolios. Mr. Ward also participates in Segal Workforce 2023, an initiative seeking to enhance the career development process with a dedicated focus towards opportunity equity between employees and management as it relates to DEI. He is also a member of Segal’s initiative called NEXT (National Exposure and X-Training), a professional development group for every non-officer at Segal who is interested in developing consulting skills, as well as networking and cross-training with their peers. And most recently, Mr. Ward joined the Segal business resource group (BRG) for folks of color, an umbrella group currently being formed to discuss common work environment issues and to work on common DEI strategies and goals. In addition, there is an affinity group being formed called the Black/AA Affinity Group, under the umbrella of the BRG, to serve as a space where folks from the same community can meet, discuss and address DEI issues specific to their communities.
Prior to joining Segal Marco Advisors, Mr. Ward worked for SEI – Capital Resources Consultant division as a senior analyst within the performance measurement team. The primary role consists of reconciling custodial and investment manager data of the various client plans.
